So, I have this new theory – maybe all the pimples and inexplicable redness and other stuff that we keep having to deal with are just cries for help by our skin. It’s trying to tell us we’re doing something wrong. Except I can never really figure out what I’m doing wrong (apart from the fact that I don’t pay it a lot of attention) so the theory doesn’t really help much -.- Yeah sorry, I thought this would lead somewhere too.

I’m usually too lazy to have a proper skincare routine, except this face cleanser that I’m in love with. However, I’ve been attempting to change that over the past couple of weeks. I got these two products from Jo’s Organic Beauty in the mail and I took that as a sign. I wasn’t sure if they would be good enough to write about but I’ve been taking them out for a test run over the last 15 days and here I am writing about them. So you guys can put the pieces together.

While you can use each of these products on their own (if that’s what floats your boat), here’s a simple 3-step facial idea for when you’re in the mood to give your skin the royal treatment:

Step 1

turmeric face pack

Start with the turmeric face pack. It’s a bit like old-school ubtan and very gentle on your skin. You can even see bits of saffron and dried rose petals in the mixture if you look hard enough (I clearly did). Simply make a paste by mixing in some water (if you’re as lazy as me). But if you’ve got some yogurt or rose water lying around, that’s even better. Especially if you’ve got dry skin. Leave it on for as long as it takes to dry and then wash off with warm water. Gentle, circular motions help circulation.

Step 2

Steam for 5-6 minutes. Just warm up some water, pour it into a bowl and use a towel to keep the steam contained. This step helps open up your pores and lets your skin breathe. Just saying all this stuff I’ve heard other people say and hoping it makes sense.

Step 3

mask and scrub

This is personally my favourite step. Because if I had to pick just one of out of the two products, I’d scream out ‘O Honey’ without a second thought. It’s got so much game. Here’s why:

  • It’s 2-in-1 so can be used as a mask and scrub.
  • It smells amazing (my nostrils can’t get enough of the sweet, fruity cranberry scent).
  • If you find the texture too thick, you can add some more honey to it which makes your skin even softer.
  • Also, I keep it in the fridge so putting it on my face during these hot summer days feels like heaven.

Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and wash it off with warm water. You’ll notice the difference instantly. It’s very hydrating so I don’t even need to moisturise afterwards. And my skin feels smoother than silk (okay that’s a slight exaggeration but y’know what I mean).

(You should actually keep both things in the fridge since they’re made of all natural ingredients and may not survive the Karachi heat)

What are some of the skin products you guys use? I’m totally obsessing over this now so please share your own experiences with me in the comments c:

Note: While these seem to be working for my skin, we all have a different skin type and they may or may not have a similar effect on you. Pls don’t chase me with pitchforks if it doesn’t give you the same results. Thx.

  1. I love Jo’s organic stuff. I recently bought their moisturizing bar and it’s the best thing I bought this year. My daughter loves putting it on her hands! <3

    1. Ohh that sounds lovely! I haven’t tried it yet because I’m a little too attached to my current moisturizer but I can totally imagine why your daughter loves it 🙂
