game of thrones theme party

Hello there, children of the internet. I present to you with great excitement my labour of love for the past couple of weeks – this Game of Thrones themed birthday party. This is also the reason the blog wasn’t getting as much attention, in case you were wondering. But it was totally worth it (you’ll see!). If you’re not a Game of Thrones fan, you’ll probably roll your eyes the whole time you’re reading this post and then write me off as an imbecile. So before that happens, please close this window and let’s pretend you never saw this. Deal? Okay awesome.

However, if you’re a Throner like me (is that what we’re called or did I just make that up?), welcomeeee. Let me give you a bit of backstory before I bombard you with a bunch of photos (don’t say you weren’t warned).

It was Shehryar’s birthday last weekend and I knew I wanted to plan something kind of elaborate (by my standards) since I’m currently too broke to afford any real presents. It wasn’t difficult to come up with the idea of a Game of Thrones theme (hey, you’re never too old for a themed birthday party) because we’re both obsessed with the show and books. If you’d like to read more about that, here’s a post I did about a GoT location we visited together.

There was a whole bunch of DIY involved so I had to rope in many people in my life (mainly my mom, who is the most artsy person I know) to help out. I’ll do a series of DIY posts next week and link back to them here. And now, sparing you all the other planning details before you doze off, allow me to show you the results.

The Invitation

Just did a simple e-vite using the Game of Thrones font which I downloaded from the internet c:

The Entrance

We played the Game of Thrones soundtrack when he entered although the crappy bluetooth speakers I had weren’t really loud enough for anyone to hear the music. Oh well. There was some other stuff at the entrance too, though:

Tbh, there wasn’t enough time to play either of these at the party but it was cool having them around.

It’s his birthday but I still get to sit on the throne and wear the crown (hashtag true love)

I let him cut the cake though.

    1. It took me a little more than a week but I was at it for multiple hours a day! So, a lot of the stuff we’re planning to keep around the house until it’s too ugly to look at lol. I can’t bring myself to throw away anything after all the effort I’ve put in, tbh!

    1. Feel free to use any of the ideas! I’ll also do some DIYs for these things next week, you can check those out if you’re interested 🙂

  1. Those dragon eggs and invitations are everything! I would absolutely love to have an iron throne in my home too. And those dish name puns?! I’m dying!

    1. Haha thank you so much! Only a fellow Game of Thrones fan would appreciate them as much as you 🙂

  2. The Khalcheesi pasta is hilarious 😂 I love themed birthdays, and this one is magnificent! It shows that you put a lot of effort into the details!

  3. THIS IS THE COOLEST PARTY EVER!

About 2 years ago for my 25th birthday party I did an all Harry Potter themed party and it just amazing when you can go all out and everyone loves it. I think I may have to do this for my 27th. LOVE EVERYTHING!!
