Okay, maybe I’m a little late to jump on the smoothie bowl bandwagon (don’t judge me, I’ve been living under a rock). But I’m sure glad I did!
If you’re as new to this as me, you might ask, “What’s the point of putting a smoothie in a bowl?!” Before I tried it out, I was pretty skeptical too. Until I realised that serving it in a bowl gives you an excuse (as if you needed one) to shower it with all the toppings your heart desires. It’s like a sundae, but better. Oh and healthier!
They started their journey into this world as açai bowls and they’re super easy to make at home. You just need to be armed with a powerful blender. This particular one tastes like dessert and made me wish I had made a lot more! It’s very easy to make and is a lot healthier than that chocolate shake you’ve been eyeing 😉
Chocolate-Peanut Butter Smoothie Bowl
Serves: 1
Ingredients:
2 frozen bananas (Peel and cut into small pieces before freezing. I learned the hard way!)
1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (healthier alternative, raw cacao powder)
1 tbsp peanut butter
2 medjool dates, pitted and halved (Mejdool dates have been crowned the healthiest natural sweetener by, well, people who know these things)
1/2 cup milk (use almond milk as a healthier alternative)
Method:
Blend everything together until smooth and creamy. You might want to leave the bananas outside for 10 minutes so they’re easier to blend. Top with fruits and whatever else you’d like and you’re done!
Yummy! I get weak over peanut butter and chocolate. This is a great healthy option to satisfy those cravings. Thanks!
Same here! I love the idea that this one allows your to indulge a little without being too unhealthy 🙂
Omg drooling! This looks soooo good and I already have all these ingredients…might give it a go tomorrow morning for brekky 🙂 Huge fan of smoothie bowls as well, so I’m sure I’ll love this.
This looks so good, and I can’t wait to try it! Thanks for sharing!
Looks easy and delicious. I’ll have to give dates a try! Thanks!
Smoothie bowls and banana ice cream are my favorite ways to start my morning. And you can’t beat peanut butter, chocolate, and dates! You can even add a bit of vanilla extract to it, too. So yummy!
Yummy goodness!!!! Page bookmarked
I love how simple this is! It’s okay that you’ve been under a rock…we’ve all been there lol Chocolate and peanut butter is one of my favorite combinations!
Yayy! I’m so glad you think so. And also, hello, fellow rock resident c:
